What is Glaucoma?
80% of the Glaucoma cases can be treated medically.
Surgery is considered –
- If disease is progressing despite maximum medical therapy
- Patient who cannot afford the medical therapy
- Patients who are not regular with follow ups
In a small group of glaucoma cases the pressure is normal and disease progresses irreversibly. That is why Glaucoma is called the silent thief of sight. It is the commonest cause of irreversible blindness in the world.
